Tame Me

To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world .

“Good morning,” said the fox.

狐狸说：“早上好。”

“Good morning,” the little
prince

responded politely
, although when he turned around he saw nothing.

小王子礼貌地回答道：“早上好。”不过当他转身的时候，什么也没看见。

“I am right here,” the voice said, “under the apple tree.”

那个声音说：“我在这里，就在苹果树下面。”

“Who are you?” asked the little prince, and added, “You are very pretty to look at.”

小王子问道：“你是谁？”然后接着说：“你真是好看。”

“I am a fox,” said the fox.

狐狸说：“我是一只狐狸。”

“Come and play with me,”
proposed
the little prince. “I am so unhappy.”

小王子提议：“来和我一起玩吧，我很不开心。”

“I cannot play with you,” the fox said. “I am not
tamed
.”

狐狸说：“我不能和你一起玩，我还没有被驯养。”

“Ah! Please excuse me,” said the little prince. But, after some thought, he added: “What does that mean — ‘tame’?”

小王子说：“啊！抱歉。”不过他想了想然后补充道：“不过‘驯养’是什么意思呢？”

“It is an act too often
neglected
,” said the fox. “It means to establish ties.”

狐狸说：“这是一个通常会被忽略的举动。驯养就是指建立联系。”

“To establish ties?”

“建立联系？”

“Just that,” said the fox. “To me, you are still
nothing more than
a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part,
have no need of me
. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world … .”

狐狸说：“也就是说，对于我，你和其他成千上万的小男孩一样，没有不同。我不需要你；而你，也不需要我。于你而言，我和其他成千上万的狐狸也并无二致。但如果你驯养了我，我们便彼此需要。在这个世上，你就是我的唯一，我亦是你的唯一。”
