[ML笔记]前言&什么是Machine Learning?

前言

从今天开始学习Machine Learning相关知识，先从Andrew Ng的基础课程开始。

什么是Machine Learning?

Arthur Samuel定义

The field of study that gives computers the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed.

在未明确编程的情况下，计算机拥有自主学习能力的研究领域。

Tom Mitchell定义

A computer program is said to learn from experience E with respect to some class of tasks T and performance measure P, if its performance at task in T, as measured by P, improves with experience E.

能从经验E中学习，解决任务T，达到性能度量值P的一个程序。当且仅当，因为有了经验E以后，程序在处理任务T时的性能有所提升，提升的度量值即为P。

Tome Mitchell 定义的例子：一个程序通过不断的进行象棋游戏，逐渐提升了技术水平，胜率提升了。那么，

T：玩象棋游戏

E：玩象棋游戏获得的经验

P：下次游戏这个程序可能的胜率
