Components and Characteristics of a Wireless Network

A network needs node, modem, wireless router/access point (WAP),switch and hub, wireless network adapter/ NIC, wireless antennas, wirelessrepeater
and radio waves/Ethernet cable.
And this entire network needs a set of software componentsto support its work. The software components are: Networking Operating System,Protocol
stack (TCP/IP), Applications (Brower/ File Explorer, etc.), and manyother software that a computer has.
Various Standards for Wireless Networking:
1. 1G
& 2G:
The very primitive wirelessconnection. Expensive but not reliable.
2. 3G:
a. LTE:
IP-nized the network by buildingon 3G Network
b. WiMAX
Relatively cheap, makes sure thequality of the signal within 50 kilometers in radius.
3. 4G
Fast andreliable
4. 5G
Faster, but hasn’t been developedyet.
5. Wi-Fi(Wireless
LAN):
Most preferred domestic networkconnection
