Setting the SPOOL option may allow recovery of LINE and COLUMN for error

Starting in Version 7 the NOSPOOL option will be set rather than SPOOL like in previous releases. SPOOL means that lines are written to disk and may be accessed for error recovery. However, when NOSPOOL is in effect the lines
are removed at program boundary and therefore may not be recovered. This may have an effect for recovering the LINE and COLUMN of errors within macro. Starting in Version 8 if the LINE and COLUMN cannot be determined and you have not changed the default value
of NOSPOOL you may get the following note:

200: LINE and COLUMN cannot be determined.

NOTE: NOSPOOL is on. Running with OPTION SPOOL may allow

recovery of the LINE and COLUMN where the error has

occurred.

By running the program with the SPOOL option set you may be able to determine the LINE and COLUMN of where the error has occurred. You can do this by issuing this OPTIONS statement:
