Hewlett-Packard has refreshed products within its Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) portfolio to provide faster testing of mobile and cloud-based applications.HP plans to have all the upgrades available starting in April. The improvements will help enterprises in application planning and development, reduce testing costs and speed up the delivery of software, according to the company.HP's ALM 12 portfolio focuses on the core application lifecycle from design to readiness for deployment. The suite includes development and testing tools on a common platform that includes a dashboard for managing all key processes.Dedicate sufficient time to application testing throughout the development process to reduce time-consuming problems after deployment."With HP ALM 12, we serve more clients, more efficiently with new features that enable traceability for complete application lifecycle management and improved business requirements integration for better visibility into quality assurance and development activities," Brian Haskett, vice president of IT consultancy Ciber, said in a joint statement with HP.To improve performance testing, HP introduced LoadRunner 12 and Performance Center 12, which have new capabilities for running test loads against applications running either in part or entirely on Amazon Web Services.HP targets mobile and cloud development with version 12 of its application lifecycle management portfolio.The products include management tools that automate provisioning of load generators across geographically dispersed development teams, an important feature considering that many enterprises outsource application development to companies in countries outside the U.S.Applications built on the HP Anywhere Enterprise Mobility Platform can be tested manually in HP Sprinter for Mobile, making it possible to remove defects more efficiently, according to HP."This ability enables manual testers to quickly step through, author, annotate, upload tests to ALM, and manage defects when running tests on mobile devices," Kelly Emo, director of HP applications product marketing, said in thecompany's blog.Enhancements to Shunra Network Virtualization for HP Software improve the reliability of performance by emulating real-world network conditions."By integrating performance and functional testing capabilities earlier into the application lifecycle, HP empowers organizations to deliver the innovative mobile, cloud and hybrid software applications that are the engines of business growth," Bernd Schlotter, senior vice president of application delivery management at HP, said in a statement.In Agile Manager, a Software-as-a-Service tool for developer collaboration, HP has added new requirements definitions and management features that provide a Word-like authoring environment with full traceability throughout the application lifecycle.HP Unified Functional Testing 12 includes extended support for Safari and enhancements for testing application programming interfaces (APIs) to let companies deploy software faster. HP Business Process Testing 12 has been embedded into the user interface, so automated tests can be turned into reusable business components directly from the same application.HP's performance and functional testing tools are available as on-premise software or as a cloud service.
