How to Create a WordPress WXR File

1Log in to your WordPress blog and click on the "Tools" link on the sidebar.

Click on the "Export" link. This brings you to the WordPress export manager. Here you'll back up your site and create a WXR file.

Choose what part of your site you want to backup. Select "All Content," "Posts" or "Pages." Choosing "All Content" includes your categories, tags, navigation menus and comments with the WXR file.

Click on "Download Export File." The file begin downloading automatically.
