Dear Unity Flash Developer,
Just as it is for our developers, deciding which platforms to work with is a tough call for Unity. It involves all sorts of speculation about what the future holds for a specific technology and the medium generally.
We write to inform you that Unity will not support Flash deployment beyond the Unity 4.x development cycle. This has the following consequences:
• You have a considerable window to finish current Flash projects. All upcoming versions of Unity 4 will continue to support Flash deployment, however, we will not be making further significant investments in deployment to the platform.
• We recommend that you do not begin work on new Flash projects.
• If you have any questions or concerns we invite you to contact us at support@Unity3D.com or contact your account manager for further information.
Our decision to stop supporting Flash deployment reflects our views on the future of web gaming. To read more about our reasoning, see our Flash deployment blog post.
Don’t forget that you can still deploy games to the Web via the Unity Web Player build target.
