Generally just open the document library page and select Actions->Open with Windows Explorer, then we can get some folders listed in a new opened Windows Explorer window, we can now copy & paste the documents as what we do in a pure file environment.
If the subfolders are too deep, or the document file name are too long, we may get a error which says " Cannot find the specified file" or "**** file is not accessible..... The filename or extension is too long". The error would be extremly annoying, cause he may interupt the file copy process and when you click the only "OK" button, the copy process will then exit, you will not be able to know where are you and how many files have been copied, and usually you will have to make a fresh start next time.
Follow this steps to avoid this embarrassment:
Open the document library as before, but if you feel your subfolders are too deep, you can choose to do the folders separately and that will leads to a multi-time job. Anyway, get into whatever folder you would like to do the export.
Actions->Open with Windows Explorer as usual.
Go to you target directory, let it be as short as possible. Use the hard drive directly and map the folder to be a network drive if it is a network share folder to avoid the "\\computer name\foldername\" thing.
Copy & Paste.
Cheers.
