Classics, ranging from novels, essays, to poems and autobiographies, play an important part in the development of one's personality and taste. Moreover, they broaden people's vision and enlarge their knowledge. And by getting access to the great mind, people tend to be encouraged and enlighted, which is likely to make their life more meaningful.
Unfortunately, nowadays fewer people would like to read these master pieces. The reasons can be complicated. To begin with, more and more people are too busy dealing with pressure from their's work and daily life to read books. Meanwhile, the advanced media technologies such as cable television, DVD player and Internet
provide people more fun to kill time. The last but not the least, people of these days are paying too much attention to practical knowledge, whiche to some extent can account for the ignorance of the classics.
As college students, we should not just focus on how to become a good bread earner. We should read as many classics as possible, so that we can be more reasonable and responsibile, which helps us be more useful to the society and more successful in our future life.
