"The 0.10.x series is a stable series targeted at end users. It is not API or ABI compatible with the stable 0.8.x series. It is, however, parallel installable with the 0.8.x series. " -- That's what I see for how "Desktop Linux" works. They sucks.
Software is amazing. Free software is much more than being amazing. It leaves people the rights they desire, AS LONG AS THEY CAN DO DEVELOPMENT THEMSELVES. In the OSS community, only developers, especially those people who have time and just enough braveness to become a so called "team leader", are 1st class citizens. They play with code the way they like. They make things work, but only on their single configuration. When they talk about "freedom", what they really mean is, "follow me closely or go die somewhere else". Or even worse, "follow me closely, or you're dead already". They make "breakthrough" all the time and when they're maing one, they're breaking all the other users' system, with or without a single step moving ahead. They believed that everything is no worth to be kept, the only things to be honorred is the next piece of code yet to come. They spawning code, they spawning binaries in all kinds of incompatiable formats and packaging methods and they spam them all around the world, using up to the last single bit of bandwidth their mirror sites could support. And, what are they making anyway? Flame wars, incompatiable systems, nightmare of configuration of software, ... The only thing I desire is a system that works for me, for my friend and so we can share experience and tips. And this is just never becoming the truth in the visible future.
OSS is commie. OSS is virus.
